This is by far the script that made me laugh the most, Ilana and Josh's jokes were already irresistible on paper.
For this film I was immediately drawn to primary and saturated secondary colors blend together with some good old NYC patina.
Some classic NY films like Harry meet Sally and Saul Leiter photos were my first inspirations, but then I looked across the ocean and found some more in the irrestible use of color of Maestro Godard.
Babes is the story of two lifelong friends Eden and Dawn, one single and wanting a baby, the other already a mother, navigate challenges to their bond when Eden pursues pregnancy alone after a one-night stand. Life made them different, but they still root for the same things, so I believed there should be a connection between their places: Dawn's being the adult, less saturated and extreme version of Eden's.
This time, I decided to use a geometric composition to convey the color palettes and I quite enjoyed it especially because it helped to show the colors interactions and the proportions of use for each color.
The initial boards are below, some before and after to follow.

For the B&A section of this film I will start by sharing the scripted words of Josh Rabinowitz and Ilana Glazer:

It comes without saying that this description got me very excited, but soon enough we realized the scripted 'apartment' wouldn't work for the Rube-Goldberg transformation more so I proposed to move Eden a loft.
We chose to convey the transformation with the use of two double-sided walls on wheels:
- one would serve as TV and video games stand on one side, and yoga studio wall for equipment storage on the other.
- the second rolling wall as pantry on one side, and plain wall with yoga inspired art hanging on it.
My sketches for the rolling walls below:

Let's move to Dawns house now. We loved the architecture, but the decor wasn't right. We cleared it completely and re-decorated it. Some before photos of the first floor:
